This post is all about the best ice cream places from Naples to Paestum. In a country where pretty much every shop sells the dessert and each one is amazing, it’s sometimes hard to know which one to choose. Ella and I recently went on a trip to this part of Italy, so we had a bit of a wander around and discovered our favourite flavours, combos and shops. Here are our top three recommendations for anyone going to Italy anytime soon!
1. Fresco Sorrento Gelato and Smoothies
Fresco is no. 1 in this list for a reason. From the classic vanilla to the imaginative flavour of Ferrero Rocher, there is an ice cream for everyone. I was satisfied with a three scoop cone filled with nocciotella (Nutella and nocciolla), Oreo flavour, Ferrero Rocher and cookie and Oreo topping. I got this for €5, which although it isn’t cheap, is a great price for the quality of ice cream. This shop looks like something that should be in Kensington High Street or Portobello, yet is placed in a pedestrianised area in the centre of Sorrento on a small, out of the way street. Better yet, it doesn’t stop at ice cream and sorbet– it has smoothies and slushies too! Although we didn’t get a chance to try these, I’m sure they were amazing from the looks of them.
2. Bar Gelateria Museo:
No. 2 on this list is the little cafe next to the museum at the Paestum ruins. Their flavours were great, with the best-rated pistachio ice cream out of all of them. In fact, the ice cream was so good we actually went back for a second round! The price wasn’t crazy either– only €3.50 for three scoops. This shop is really easy to find as it is on the main road outside the entrance to the ruins. Between the four of us (we went with friends), we covered a wide variety of flavours, including the pomegranate flavour, which was really good.
3. Bunocore Gelateria
If you are thinking of going to Capri, then you should definitely consider going to this ice cream store. From the moment the cone is handed to you, you get a sense of how amazing it is going to be. The rich flavours and warm cone (yes, WARM!) perfectly complement each other and you feel the luxury of this smooth ice cream. It is located in the upper half of the town of Capri, which you have to take tram to, and it is also where all the expensive shops like Gucci and Prada are. The ice cream is sold at a very small stall at the side of one of the main streets. I treated myself to three scoops of delicious ice cream (nociolla, straciatella and pistachio), all of which were equally delicious!
I hope you get some of these amazing ice creams. If you do, like, comment and subscribe to this blog and tell us which flavour was your favourite!
